Cebu is holding its first ever Food and Wine Festival (CFWF), showcasing the best flavors and cuisines the province has to offer. The event hopes to revitalize Cebu’s local tourism and hospitality industry after a particularly bad year.
Hosted by restaurateur Kate Dychangco-Anzani of the Anzani Group, the 15-day festival is jam packed with over 60 events—including two grand tastings, a series of cooking classes, pop-up dinners, Farmers’ Markets, and auctions, among others. Specialty wines hailing from France, Italy, New Zealand and Australia are also being offered alongside food booths and live action stations.
Opening last April 18 with a beach dinner at Crimson Resort and Spa in Mactan island, the event includes additional activities spread across the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, and Lapu-Lapu. The festivities will then cap off with a grand finale dinner at Marco Polo Plaza in Cebu City on May 2.
Due to restrictions on mass gatherings amid the pandemic, restaurants have limited seating capacity. “Social dining bubbles” have also been set up to maintain an extraordinary dining experience while following safety protocols, according to the Ministry of Food and Wine.
