KONDWI Art Space is running Conduit of Hope, an online art exhibition that aims to support ongoing relief efforts in the aftermath of Typhoon Ulysses.
Founded in 2019, KONDWI Art Space is a multi-purpose art gallery, theater, restaurant, and bar in Poblacion that aims to make contemporary art more accessible to all.
Conduit of Hope was initially slated as a completely different show, but the team at KONDWI decided to change its plans after a series of typhoons hit the Philippines in November. At the suggestion of its exhibiting artists, Conduit of Hope was created to provide a platform for artists to extend aid to some of the country’s most severely affected sectors.
“As a creative space, we are primarily geared towards responding to the needs of the locale—whether physical or virtual,” said a representative from KONDWI Art Space. “And now with a group of artists approaching us with the intent to help raise funds for relief efforts, there was really no question about it. We had to make this show happen.”
Led by guest curator Ricky Francisco and featuring the works of 18 local artists, the exhibition runs on KONDWI’s social media channels from November 22 to December 12. Through art sales, the initiative aims to raise at least P100,000 to assist the Panday Bayanihan Foundation’s ongoing relief efforts.
“KONDWI has always been intended as a conduit, and now we have truly become just that—a conduit for artists to help those that have been affected by the typhoon,” they said.
